Mission:
The mission of the Gilpin County Senior Living organization is to provide affordable senior friendly rental housing.
Background:
The organization was formed from research, community meetings, and recommendations formed by the “Gilpin Commission for Senior Housing” officially formed on November 11, 2013. In 2011, the Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners hired the Economic and Planning Systems, Inc. to conduct a Gilpin County Housing Needs Assessment. The report included a special section to review senior housing demand. It found that many seniors in the County were seeking options for staying in the community as they aged and that long-term, economical housing options were not available. The report estimated that by the year 2035 the County would need approximately 40 residences for Senior Citizens as it was one of the highest growth populations in the County. It also stated that by 2015 as many as 30 would be needed.
