Gilpin County Senior Living is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, non-profit organization committed to raising the funds needed and building an independent residences for senior citizens in Gilpin County, Colorado. The goal is to build a 16-residences that can provide independent style living. Once built and at capacity additional residences can and will be planned.
Gilpin County’s population is undergoing unprecedented change. Our senior population is the fastest growing segment as retirees choose to remain in Colorado’s high country. While the population of Gilpin is projected to grow at a rate of 1.7%, our senior population is expected to grow at 3.3% annually.
Gilpin County’s older residents gave high ratings to the community as a place to live and many rated Gilpin County as a place to retire as “excellent” or “good”. (Gilpin County, CO 2015 Report of Results, Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults, National Research Center, Inc., 2015)
There is no senior housing in Gilpin County. “…while a substantial portion of the population indicate their desire to stay in the County and their interest in eventually living in such as independent living facility… EPS recommends building approximately a 15-to-30-unit facility for a first phase of development. This grass roots organization is led by a dedicated group of volunteers who believe seniors should have the ability to age-in-place and stay in the community they love.
